Karhu ski’s were one of the first produced items in a small workshop located in downtown Helsinki where locally sourced birch was transformed into winter forms of transport. Worn by the Finnish army to world champions like Harri Kirvesniemi, who is part of the Karhu family as the official licensee of Karhu ski, cross-country skiing has helped to shape the brand. Last winter, the Karhu team visited Harri Kirvesniemi at the Karhu ski factory in Kitee, a small Finnish town in the east of Finland. Here we got to know more about the factory, the technical aspects of producing ski’s and Harri’s cross-country ski experiences and anecdotes. To honour the man that is still part of the Karhu legacy and the place where we still make our ski’s, we are launching the Karhu Fusion 2.0 “Kitee” pack. To match the season, the material selection on both Fusion 2.0s consists of a mix of pigskin suede, water repellent nylon and lycra. Extra detail is included with speckled EVA midsoles and rope lacing to add an outdoor sport feel to the shoes. The Fusion 2.0 remains a salute to the original Fusion model from 1996, when it was one of the most technical running shoes in the collection.
The Kitee Pack will release globally on Friday, November 29th 2019 at select retailers, Karhu.com and the Karhu Concept Store in Helsinki.
